A Carlisle man who was arrested yesterday (Sunday) after a police chase in Carlisle has appeared in court.
Kristian Scott, 27, of Heysham Park Avenue in the city appeared before Carlisle Magistrates Court today (MON) from custody.
John Moran prosecuting told the court how police spotted a Renault Kangoo van driving along seven different roads including London Road and in the Harraby estate area of Carlisle.
The court was told how Scott drove at excessive speeds in a residential area, his driving was erratic, driving on the wrong side of the road and losing wheel traction on corners, this was a long police pursuit in a residential area, he did eventually stop the car and ran away along with the passenger, Scott was caught moments later.
Today he admitted the offences of driving while disqualified, failing to stop and dangerous driving.
Magistrates said their powers were insufficient for the dangerous driving offence, he will appear before a judge at Carlisle Crown Court on July 15, to be sentenced on all offences, he was remanded in custody until then.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The vehicle failed to stop for officers and was pursued around Harraby including, Mallyclose Drive, Hopes Hill Drive, Highwood Crescent, London Road, Cumwhinton Road, and Lingmoor Way before the driver made off and was later located and arrested.
“Police are investigating offences after a pursuit in the Harraby area of Carlisle.
“Kristian Scott, 27 of Bower Street, Carlisle has since been charged with Dangerous Driving, Disqualified Driving and failing to stop for police.
“Anybody who witnessed the manner of driving are urged to contact police, please contact 101 and ask to speak with PC 1947 Ross quoting log number 243 of 14th June.”
