Mini Eden, Kirkby Stephen, is taking its green credentials a step further as it opens two new indoor gardens from Monday 6th July for customers to enjoy!
Opened in 2017 by Kirkby Stephen resident, Linnhe Harrison, Mini Eden is a children’s clothing and gift shop and café with a difference. All clothing stock is preloved, end-of-line, recycled, handmade, made in Cumbria or fairtrade. The café is loved by local and visiting parents alike, who have been able to enjoy fantastic Carvetii coffee, scrumptious cakes from Ivy Cottage Baker (Newbiggin-on-Lune), More! Bakery (Staveley), Hedgehog Bakery (Barnard Castle) and delicious ice cream from the Handmade Ice Cream Company, Ulverston, whilst their children play.
“It’s such a tough time for us and every business at the moment, and we are cautious about what’s to come. We knew that we had to adapt our space in order for people to feel confident about bringing their children into the café. It’s sad that we have had to pack away the toys, but we hope that the children will enjoy exploring the new gardens, spotting Kirkby Stephen parrots in the trees and discovering themselves in our infinity mirrors. These are safe spaces, designed for families to enjoy together whilst we adjust to the new normal.” owner Linnhe explains.
Local carpenter Wayne McLay has taken Linnhe’s ideas and made them a reality, creating user friendly indoor green spaces. Mini Eden is also extending its food offer to include brunch, with the menu to include Sourdough toast with toppings from award-winning Ivy Cottage Bakery.
