A SOUTH Lakeland man has been warned he could be jailed after he admitted a cannabis supply crime.
Carlisle Crown Court heard 57-year-old Kevin Paul Moore was illegally in possession of more than 111g of the class B controlled drug on February 21 this year.
It is said the cannabis seized from his address could potentially be worth up to £2,200.
When he appeared in the dock in front of Judge Simon Medland QC this morning (FRI), Moore, of Craig Walk, Bowness-on-Windermere, pleaded guilty to possessing the illicit substance with intent to supply it to another.
His barrister, Matthew Howarth, asked for the case to be adjourned for a probation service pre-sentence report to address his offending in the light of “substantial health issues”. “In my respectful submission this is an individual who can be rehabilitated,” Mr Howarth said.
Judge Medland agreed to adjourn the case, and granted Moore bail until he receives his punishment next month.
“There are obviously underlying, important facts which the court will need to take account of when sentence is passed,” said the judge, who noted it was a “serious case in many ways” involving “a lot of cannabis”.
“All sentencing options, including immediate custody will remain open. It is plainly an imprisonable offence. Whether any such sentence can be suspended or not is a decision which will be taken by the judge on the next occasion.”
