Police were called at 9:30am on Friday 18 September 2020 to the report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A684, approximately one mile from Junction 37 of the M6 towards Sedbergh.
The collision involved a silver Moto Guzzi motorcycle and a white Range Rover.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “As a result of the collision, the rider of the motorcycle, a 57-year-old man from South Cumbria sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Preston Hospital.
“The occupants of the car suffered minor injuries.
“The road was closed for several hours whilst a forensic collision investigation and vehicle recovery was carried out.”
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “One casualty was extricated by fire service personnel using cutting gear and a further casualty was given medical treatment by ambulance crews at the road side.
“Fire service personnel were in attendance for approximately ninety minutes.”
