It is with great regret that Penrith Town Council is not able to organise the annual civic parade for Remembrance Day this year due to current government COVID-19 restrictions.
The Council has consulted with participants and organisations normally involved in the event and church service and the consensus was that the health and safety of the public was paramount.
It is important to the Town Council to still mark Remembrance Day to pay respects to those who have lost their lives in conflict.
The Council has sent invitations to individuals and organisations who normally take part in wreath laying, inviting them to lay a wreath at the War Memorial at St Andrew’s Churchyard, at an allocated time, whilst social distancing is observed.
The Last Post will be played at 11am following which Reverend Sergeant will give the citation and Reveille will be played.
Trudie Smith Photography has been invited to take photographs of those laying wreaths which will be uploaded to the Town Council website and social media. Trudie has kindly donated her fee between the Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes.
