Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault that occurred on 7 October at 12:50pm outside Carlisle College, Victoria Place.
The victim, a 20-year-old man from Carlisle, has sustained minor injuries to his face.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “An 18-year-old man from Penrith, was arrested on suspicion of assault and causing actual bodily harm. He has been released under investigation.
“Officers would like to speak to any college students who may have witnessed the incident to support the investigation.”
