Emergency services including police responded following a report at about 2.50pm today (October 11) that a light aircraft had crashed north of Troutbeck, between Keswick and Penrith.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “The single occupant of the aircraft, a man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“There were no other casualties.
“The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has been contacted and a cordon put in place around the site.”
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “At 14:48 hours on 11th October 2020, three fire engines and the water bowser and supporting fire engine were mobilised to Troutbeck area following reports of a light aircraft crash.
“This was a fatal incident.
“Fire crews assisted ambulance and police and remained at scene around two hours.”
