Lakes College is bucking the trend with the number of people securing an apprenticeship.
Despite recent Government figures showing large numbers of 19 to 25 year olds are looking for jobs, the college has recorded more apprenticeship starts during August and September than the same time last year.
Victoria Morgan, business engagement manager, said: “The credit must go to local businesses who have chosen to invest in our young people during the worst trading period in recent times.
“Small businesses in particular are wanting to engage, upskill and grow their own staff, with construction, nuclear and the care sector leading the way.”
Lakes College, and the National College for Nuclear (which is based on the campus) are offering places on some programmes from January 2021.
These include HNC and HNDs, as well as degrees and many new apprenticeship schemes recently accredited such as health and safety, retail, construction and project management.
A number of financial incentives are available for apprenticeships, email [email protected] for more information.
