The Mayor of Workington, Cllr Janet King and Culture Committee Chair, Cllr Carole Armstrong, have announced the winners of the 2020 Christmas Card Competition.
Overall winner – Melissa McKenzie
12-18 years age category – Marwa Abdulkareem
7-11 years age category – Cain Owens
4-7 years age category – Savannah Devlin
The competition was open to anyone from the age of 4-18 years old, who lives in Workington. All children submitted their entries via their school.
The Mayor commented: “We had 359 entries this year, the most we have ever had, so we had a very tough decision choosing the winner and runners up. I want to thank all the children for taking the time to send in all their lovely pictures. They really did brighten up our day.”
The winning picture will be used on the front of the Mayor’s Christmas card for 2020. The winner and runners up will all receive a hamper, courtesy of Morrison’s, and the children will also feature in the Town Council’s Virtual Christmas Festival on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November; you will have to tune in to see how!
All pictures can be viewed on the Town Council’s website and social media channels and details of the Virtual Christmas Festival be found here – www.visitworkington.co.uk/christmasfestival
