Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner congratulates Victim Support’s Independent Sexual Violence Advisers (ISVAs), who have been awarded with Lime Culture’s Quality Standards Accreditation. In order to achieve this accreditation, the service has to be independently reviewed to ensure that they provide a consistent, equitable and effective service to survivors of sexual abuse. The focus of the accreditation is on the quality of the service across four domains, Leadership and Governance, Access and Engagement, Service delivery and outcomes.
Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall comments: “The role of an ISVA is a vital one and it’s great to see that their high standards of service has been recognised nationally.
“ISVA’s provide invaluable support to victims/survivors of sexual violence and abuse, whether they have reported it to the police or not. The emotional and practical support to help survivors to cope and recover from the experience of sexual assault or abuse is essential.
“ISVA’s see people grow from their worst, feeling like their world has shattered, up to regaining some level normality in their lives and this must be extremely rewarding.
Claire Powell, Area Manager at Victim Support comments: “The national recognition gives survivors confidence that when they need our help and support they will receive a service places them at the heart of their recovery and meets their needs.”
